The wine-growing area P.G.E Drama includes the whole prefecture of Drama inwhich unfolds a vineyard of about 5 thousand acres. The vineyards areinstalled at an altitude of 80-500 meters, mostly on landsandy loam.The interaction of the climatic conditions, the composition of the soils of the area, thecultivated varieties, the applied cultivation care of the vine and thewinemaking techniques shape the quality characteristics of PGE Drama wines.Fertile soils complex relief, rivers, lakes, forests make up the idealtopographical and mechanical configuration for wine production, in which the area has a largetradition. the Mediterranean climate with mild winters and dry hot summers creates idealconditions.The international varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah,Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir thrive giving very good results. There are alsoGreek Assyrtiko, Limnio, Malagouzia, Moschomavro, Agiorgitiko Muscat of Alexandria andthere is a plan for new plantings of other Greek varieties.The privately owned vineyards of the winery are located in the wider area of \u200b\u200bDrama,in Hadriani, Doxato and the Agora.Weather conditions in winter 2021-2022 developed with normal temperatures,without extreme effects. Spring 2022 had several rains and temperatures lower thannormal at the time, which contributed to the delayed tearing, swelling of the eyes andflowering, about 15 days since last year. Then came less rain andrise in temperature with the result that fruit set and percasmus are behindlast year 7 days.The harvest started for Sauvignon Blanc on August 20.
